Western Canadian Championships Coming May 20th – 22nd
For all those competitors planning to attend the upcoming WCC race here at GMR, please note that there have been some changes to the rules and format. Most notably, competitors in the World Qualifier classes are now required to have national licenses. Please see http://www.wcckarting.com for more details.
In addition, as usual we will require additional volunteers for this event in the form of tire markers, tech inspection, etc. If you would like to volunteer to help on what will be one of the biggest and best race weekends of the year, please contact admin@westcoastkartclub.com.
WCC Rounds 1 and 2 less than 4 weeks away!
The Western Canadian Championship, an official Rotax Max Grand Finals qualifier series, is ready to start its 5th season of competition.
The first event is ready to roll at the Greg Moore Raceway in Chilliwack, BC. Entry forms and supplementary regulations can be found at www.wcckarting.com – early registration discounts apply as an incentive for racers to send their forms into series registrar Dorothy Choquer.
There are a number of developments this season, and the involvement of Briggs and Stratton as an official racing engines supplier ranks as one of the most influential news items in 2011. The LO206 engine will make its debut in Junior 1, Junior 2 and Senior light/heavy. Numbers are expected to grow throughout the season as clubs all over Canada have began to see racers convert to the new package.
For the National Classes that include: Rotax Junior, Rotax Senior, DD2 and DD2 Masters, participants are required to obtain an ASN National license. These can be sourced via www.asncanada.com or by Contacting Chere Cooke directly. Chere will also be on hand at the first event to guide participants with any “last minute” preparations.
The National numbering system will also be utilized for the WCC. Drivers in any Rotax category should contact ASN Canada to reserve their National number, using the specified pre-fix.
An officials planning session will be headed by Paul Cooke of ASN Canada and Patrick Moreau of SRA Karting (Canada’s Rotax Max Distributor) on the Thursday evening prior to the event. These 2 knowledgeable individuals will also remain on site as guests of the WCC to observe the event.
The host hotel for the event is the Coast Plaza. Racers can contact the hotel by emailing Dominique Roy at d.roy@coasthotels.com for the best rates possible if booking before May 4, 2011.
