The Hawk is  Chilliwack’s Classic Rock station who have joined forces with West Coast Kart Club to promote the sport of karting in the Valley.

The Hawk will be Live on location at all West Coast Kart Club Race events at Greg Moore Raceway during the 2013 racing season and in addition to lending their presence at race events the Hawk will be running promo spots on air advertising all WCKC race events the week leading up to each race

The Rotax Can-Am ProKart Challenge is announcing their 2013 schedule.

The format will be a four weekend schedule, featuring two rounds of racing at each stop between May and September. The point championship will count the best six rounds of eight toward the final classification, allowing racers the option to miss one event weekend and still have a chance at the series title.

The first stop will take the series into Canada, racing at the Greg Moore Raceway in Chilliwack, B.C., on May 17-19. The next two stops will keep the series just south of Portland, visiting the historic Pat’s Acres Racing Complex on June 14-16, and the McMinnville Kart Track on July 5-7. The Rotax Can-Am ProKart Challenge will wrap up 2013 at the Medford Kart Track in Southern Oregon on September 20-22.

There is no question that the West Coast Kart Club is on a mission to grow the sport once again and retake a major role in Western Canadian karting, and one of the ways is by reaching out to those that once made up grids of 30 plus shifter karts.

Following the recent annual general meeting in Abbotsford, B.C, West Coast Kart Club officials have elected to reinstate its 125cc Shifter class, offering current potential racers more than just the current single-speed class structure.

“While the shifter kart scene more or less disappeared a few years ago due to cost, we haven’t done much to really reignite it this is starting to change,” commented WCKC VP of Marketing, Steve Rickman. “Shifters are exciting, and give people the opportunity to try something exciting once they have had a few years in the single speed categories.

For the 2013 season the Western Canadian Championship (WCC) there will be a one race shoot out.The tentative date is July 26-27 and the location will be announced some time in February.

In order for a BC driver to qualify to compete in the WCC, he or she must compete in a minimum of three West Coast Kart Club race weekends in a Rotax (RMC Rules) class before the WCC finals. The WCC will be awarding drivers the opportunity to represent Canada at the Rotax World finals in New Orleans USA.

For the first time ever the world finals will be held on North American soil.

Also, for the first time ever, the Micro and Mini classes will be competing as support races at the World Finals. The WCC winners in the Micro Max, Mini Max, Junior Max and Senior Max classes will all win a spot on Team Canada to compete at the World Finals.
