Kart Racing in BC
The first and second rounds of the Western Canadian Championships, being held at GMR are fast approaching as the big weekend is May 18th, 19th and 20th. This event is typically the single biggest event help at GMR each year in terms of not only entries but also talent as we will witness some of the biggest names is Canadian karting in attendance. For those of you who have not participated larger events before, this is an excellent opportunity to get your feet wet on home turf so you’re all encouraged to participate to help showcase our club and facility. If you don’t wish to compete, we as usual could use some help with volunteers across the board – the more help the better so if you wish to volunteer, please email Chris Glover (c.d.glover@gmail.com) .
After tomorrow at 5 pm (Pacific time), late registration will only be possible at the track on Thursday (9 am to 5 pm) and Friday morning (9 am to noon) with a late entry fee. We prefer to have people registering on time instead of charging late entry fees.

In an effort to keep you all informed, below you will find a summary of the important changes for the upcoming season. Please keep in mind that this is just a summary so you are encouraged to read the rules meeting minutes (here) and the AGM minutes (here) as those documents will have to full, unabridged version of the changes.
a. Quiet Pit: In an effort to keep the noise down for everyone in the pits, and in the interests of being considerate of our neighbours in new residential developments out at the track, excessive revving in the paddock will not be tolerated. If for some reason you need to rev your engine for tuning, testing or otherwise, we’re encouraging everyone to do so in the pre-grid area.
b. Many classes now officially run as per the Western Canadian Championships. If your class is one of those, please ensure that you keep up to date on the latest WCC rules.
c. We recommend that all Jr 1 karts be equipped with a battery operated blinking light during rain & wet race conditions. Samples (to borrow?) will be available throughout the season.
d. To accommodate our move to a new live timing system, transponders are now required for ALL on-track sessions including practice.
e. To help with their smooth acclimation into our race events, Tech sheets for all novices or newcomers will now need to be signed by a club designated reviewer. Members in good standing may be called upon to help the Club out by occasionally performing this duty.
f. In an effort to attract new members, simplify our complicated and fragmented fee structure and to create as much value as possible for our members, the WCKC Board has approved a new, innovative fee structure. As a result, we will no longer have separate fees for race events and track practice passes.
